Artist's Comments

I've been dableing away at this one for the last few days. I really like how it turned out. This may be the last deviation I post for some time, depending on if my job picks up. If it does I won't have much time for terragen. This peice probably has four hours of actual effort (not including render time) put into it. I spent ages trying to get the surface map right, and I'm really proud of the way the grass turned out. I'de like to improve on the grass-strata transition and the strata it'self. I should take photoshop to the Stratagen 2 bitmaps or something. The terrain was a combined effort between World Machine and GeoControl. And of course this image would be nothing if not for photoshop. Kind of funny to think I started terragen with only the unregistered version of terragen to work with. Since then I have purchased the full versions of Terragen and World Machine, played around with the GeoControl Demo (thinking about buying that when I have the money), and was given photoshop. I also use Stratagen 2 and countless plugins. Hopefully I've been getting better at the whole Terragen thing, I like to think so. Any comment someone might have on this is very much apreciated, feedback (even if it's just a good job or bad job) is extremely useful in helping me improve my Terragen work.

I have no idea what program you used, or how you did this because the only 3D artwork I have ever done has been either sculpture or with the use of Illustrator as a program.

But this is FANTASTIC, I love 3D composed artwork, this is completely believable. Its great! You even added a solar flare! That's a nice touch compositionally.

The green in the rocks looks a little fake, I probably would have stuck with some browns with yellow, orange, and red highlights to keep it within that colour spectrum.

Fantastic work though +fav.

This was done in Terragen, with the flare added with Photoshop.

Thanks, glad you like it, this one is still my best in my opinion.
